Cantilena - Synthogy tells me that their engineers have Dorico and are evaluating Ivory II from their side as well

Re: Let us know which VST2.x plug-ins are working in Dorico
Oddly enough I found a part of this works for me - I entered a series of plug-in names (faithfully!) in the whitelist file, putting the 32 zeros beneath each of them. Unfortunately none of them were updated to =0" in the defaults file.fratveno wrote:[This is probably not the right thread to post this, so MODS please delete/move as necessary]
1. Copy the name of the plugin faithfully (without the extension) and put it into its own line in the WHITELIST file. Then put 32 zeros on the line beneath it. The plugin itself will have to reside in one of the default paths. (there is an xml file listing those as well - install a reader that formats xml in a digestive way, e.g. (equivalent to) notepad2 on windows)
2. Start Dorico and quit again immediately. The xml files will get updated.
3. Open the defaults.xml file and look for the line with 32 alphanumeric charachters ending in "=0". That will be your plugin. Change the "0" to "1" and copy those 32 glyphs (the GUID) to the clipboard and save the file. If there is no such line ending in "0" then your plugin has not passed the verification.
4. Open the WHITELIST file again and replace the line with 32 zeros with the GUID from the clipboard. SAVE.
5. Launch Dorico and your plugin should be available.
(If this is wrong or incomplete then a bottle of Barolo is to blame...
But... when I opened Dorico again, several of them were working as VST's, including Play, Addictive Drums, BFD2 and some NI synths. I haven't tested them thoroughly with multiple channels etc., but an initial test shows no problems.
As I have Cubase 8.5 installed and those VST's work perfectly there, I'm guessing that the necessary codes etc. were already in the system and somehow I've opened them up for use in Dorico.
(as above, if this isn't appropriate to this thread, MODS please delete/move as necessary)

Re: Let us know which VST2.x plug-ins are working in Dorico
I am trying to use the rgc audio sfz player
the GUID info seems to be this
sfz
5653457273667A73667A000000000000
which I have put into the vst2whitelist.txt file
later -
this doesn't seem to work (it's a somewhat outdated player anyway).
however, the Plogue Sforzando sfz player (which can also play/convert sf2 files) does work:
GUID:
sforzando VST_x64

the GUID info seems to be this
sfz
5653457273667A73667A000000000000
which I have put into the vst2whitelist.txt file

You need to change your permissions before editing that file. See instructions here:nicholasG wrote:On my Mac OS Sierra, when I try to edit the Whitelist, it says I don't have permission.

Play 4.3 does work, but Play 5.0.0 is known to make trouble.delmonteguitar wrote:Can some one tell me weather "Play" from East West Quantum Leap orchestra sample library works with Dorico?
Good news is, East West is aware of this and will release an update soon,

Re: Let us know which VST2.x plug-ins are working in Dorico
EWQL PLAY as described by the person in a post higher up did not work, but was rejected.
BUT PLAY 5.01 DOES Work with Dorico!
1) Install Play 5.01
2) Copy this file vst2whitelist.txt (found here: c:\Program Files\Steinberg\Dorico\VSTAudioEngine\Components\) to your desktop. VERY IMPORTANT! Windows 10 will not allow you to meddle with files, so you have to "trick" Windows 10.
3) Open this vst2whitelist.txt file (on desktop) and make sure you have these lines in there. (Just copy and past it in there)

4) SAVE!
5) Copy/Move the vst2whitelist.txt from your desktop back to [c:\Program Files\Steinberg\Dorico\VSTAudioEngine\Components\]. If administration permission is required....give it.
PLAY NOW SHOULD WORK. IT DOES FOR ME!

I believe Ivory II should work provided it's correctly whitelisted. Were you able to find the GUID etc., Judith?

Thank you very much, Dorico team, for today's code upgrade. If I may make a request for the next upgrade, please don't over-write the whitelist file (or perhaps move the existing one to a different name).

Re: Let us know which VST2.x plug-ins are working in Dorico
Not sure why this is so, but I added the 64-bit Aria players to my whitelist in the original release of Dorico, and this (along with several VSTs from Sonar that I did not add explicitly) have persisted through all the upgrades.

OK!....
EWQL SPACES also works beautifully with Dorico.
Just install SPACES as usual...no need to put the dll anywhere else,

I'm starting to think that the boys at Steinberg got a bit (just a tad) cynical regarding adding evidently quite a large number of VST2 instruments. Forgive me, I don't mean o be rude or anything, but I know we all have the honor to deal with the BEST out there! If somebody can make things work, it's YOU guys!
May the LORD bless you and keep you and let His face shine upon you this weekend!!
