If I decide not to buy Cubase, should I uninstall the demo?

You can, but you can also keep it installed in case you change your mind.
Every time someone says "it must be easy to add/fix", a programmer dies.

Cubase Pro and Wavelab Pro (latest), Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, MSI Z87-G45 GAMING, i5 4690k, GeForce GTX 760, almost every Steinberg plugin and expansion, Trilian, Komplete 10, etc etc etc etc

I'm sure this has been covered, but as a probable Cubase new user, I'd like to make a suggestion. No doubt many ex-Sonar users are coming over to Cubase because of Gibson's foolish business decisions. Most of us have used Sonar for a LONG time (I have used it since it was just a MIDI program), and we're not going to make the commitment to another DAW without trying it for a while. Good that Steinberg has a free trial. BAD that Steinberg requires a physical USB e-licenser and one cannot use the software e-licenser. Whose brilliant decision was that? (sarcasm). What Steinberg is saying essentially is that "We have a free trial, but you have to pay $38 for it, and you have to wait 3-5 days to get a USB e-licenser."
I humbly submit that this is not a good idea and will send many people to Reaper, Digital Performer, etc.

The dongle is for full piracy protection. It makes things extremely difficult to crack. If the trial wasn't protected by the eLicenser then warez groups would just try to crack it instead, since the demo is exactly the same as the full version. This would completely defeat the purpose of using a dongle in the first place.

Thanks for the logical reply. I have an old e-license dongle that works fine, and I understand and encourage the use of a dongle for piracy protection. Perhaps Steinberg could make a more complete explanation, as you did, when they offer the free trial and crossgrade? This will require only a bit of typing and no programmers will die
That said, I purchased the crossgrade after spending a few hours with the trial. Cubase 9.5 is a very comfortable fit coming from Sonar. I like the way it looks and feels and found it can do everything and more that Sonar did. You know how when you break up with somebody and regret it? Nope. I went back and worked in Sonar after a few days with Cubase, and immediately missed Cubase and wondered why I stayed with Sonar so long.
I also tried Reaper and Digital Performer. Cubase is it. Protools and Apple can go live in their gated community together. 8-)

...alternatively there is the Elements trial for which you don't need the USB dongle. It is not as fully featured but gives one a pretty good idea of the general working of the program.

Where to send my receipt for crossgrade pricing? I'm a Sonar Platinum User, looking for the screen to send my Cakewalk Sonar Platinum (Lifetime updates) (boy Gibson got me...but I've used Sonar for over 10 years. Now moving to Cubase Pro...after all the info on the Cakewalk forum.
I went to checkout / cart, but no choices for crossgrade pricing. To do before years end / special goes away.
Please advise..I can send receipt PDF anytime....

Thanks,

Joe

I'm interested in upgrading to 9.5 I currently have 5.0 Studio. I just bought a new laptop with i7 processor and 16gb memory and running Win 10. Since 5.0 won't run on Win 10 how can I upgrade to 9.5.

Go to the online Steinberg Shop:

Choose the option shown below, at a guess.....

I went through the process to get a 9.5 trial, and got to the 'You'll receive the Cubase Pro trial download link via email now.', but I never got the email.
What do I do?

Look in the spam folder or try again using a different email, such as a free gmail one.

It's not in the SPAM folder...that's email 101...
I already have an account on the Steinberg site...had to change my password to get access to complete the form, so my email is valid with Steinberg...seems like the system is glitching...
Just tried to go through it again..same result...the site is recognizing me as a logged in user, but no email with a download link..

I have no way of knowing anything about you, or how much you know about email. I'm just trying to be of assistance, on my own time. To that end, here are some observations and suggestions on how to proceed.

- It's not necessary to use your Steinberg account for a trial version. The files are downloaded using the Steinberg Download Assistant, which you can DL directly, no link needed. The trial license does not get registered in the SB account with your other SB licences

- To rule out the possibility that there's a typo in your email address, make another request.

- My understanding is that there are cases where trial code emails aren't received by customers, and one solution is to use an entirely different email provider.

Good luck to you.

I am currently using Cubase 9 and seriously interested in purchasing a Yamaha Genos.

Please tell me what's new in 9.5 that makes the integration between Cubase and Genos much easier to use.

Are there plans in the works (e .g. Cubase 10) to make the interface between these two products more user friendly?
