Steinberg sales on updates are very very rare. Don't bother waiting for one if you want 9.5.
Every time someone says "it must be easy to add/fix", a programmer dies.

Cubase Pro and Wavelab Pro (latest), Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, MSI Z87-G45 GAMING, i5 4690k, GeForce GTX 760, almost every Steinberg plugin and expansion, Trilian, Komplete 10, etc etc etc etc

They are not fair to old users. You must first give us a discount upgrade. We forgive bugs for bug fixes and they charge us.

But that wouldn't be fair to people who stay up to date. You're paying EXACTLY the same price as someone who upgraded to Cubase 9, then Cubase 9.5.

Your version isn't even that old. Deal with it.

These are sales for people upgrading between Cubase tiers, like Elements to Artist or Artist to Pro. Updates are very rarely on sale.

When you buy a tin of beans, do you expect Heinz to knock off some cash when you buy your next tin?
If in doubt scream and shout.

Not that rare, it's how I went from 6 to 8 Pro a few years ago and last year (and from Elements 8 to 9) there were sales both for upgrades from Elements/Artist and also (at a separate time) Updates for those moving up from earlier versions. There were also loads of complaining messages here from those that missed one or the other.

As evidence, rather bizarrely the link for the last year's sale is still around:

Sometime offers come, but one has to watch and wait, something professionals won't do.
As I am not a professional, I don't upgrade that often, and therefore I think it's not fair, that fees increase from version to Version, so that I pay nearly the same price as I would if I would upgrade to each version.
So I wait for Discounts ...

Same as above, I bought cubase 4 then upgraded years later to 6.5, now I have to pay the same as cubase 4 users to upgrade, for me that's not fair!

Both Cubase 4 and Cubase 6.5 users are receiving a BIG discount compared to someone who bought every single version. It's the same price because it's completely infeasible to offer separate upgrade licenses for every single old version of Cubase, plus the store page would become ridiculously long and confusing.

And how is offering a discount to you for intentionally skipping versions fair to loyal customers who buy most upgrades?

@Romatique TP
Is it fair, that someone who uses Cubase every day pays the same as someone who has a job and plays once a week?
Fairness is not the proper dimension for this discussion, neither loyality is.
Cubase is good, that's the point. And skipping versions is OK, if you don't need every feature of every version. But if you skip versions and pay the same, as if you haven't, you pay for usage time you didn't use, and so you're forced to upgrade to every version, at least if you're a rational buyer. THAT's not fair ...!
The only thing one can do, is to delay even further and wait for discounts ...

Yes! Absolutely, same software, same price. Like most things you pay for the goods not how often you might use them

@planarchist:
Please read on. I't about fairness, and that's to complex a concept to be used here, what I tried to explain.
The price is a market price, so my readiness to buy matters in the end.
Your argument with "same software same price" is a bit fuzzy. If you upgrade regulary, you pay much more (~3x starting with VST-Version) for the Software you finally have on your computer than the retail price of a new license.
One might say, OK - it's maintenance/support for the time past and the product price of today accumulated. If you skip versions, you should save some of the maintenance/support fee, as you don't use it.
To be concrete: 199,-€ from 8.0 to 9.5 compared to 349,€ for the new license is ~50€ to high from my point of view. That's not much - but currently I am happy enough with 8.0. I tried 9.5 and I think it's time to use the next discount coming. It's a good product, but for me I can even wait a year to see, what offers come.

You are of course entitled to your opinion but I think I disagree.......only think as I’m really not sure what you’re trying to say anymore. You lost me

Sorry that you lost me, wasn't my Intention. I hope it wasn't because of my mistakes in English (toO complex etc).
Nevertheless I have to correct myself: 349,-€ is the regular price of Halion 6 (that has a regular upgrade price of 199€, too). Cubase 9.5 is 559,-€ so the savings of the upgrade are better with Cubase 9.5.
Lets stop here, I think we see and respekt the opinion of each other.
Greetings from Germany!
