Cubase Artist 9.5 or Pro 9.5

Post by asimmd » Mon Jun 04, 2018 12:21 pm

I have Sonar Platinum and I am eligible for the Crossgrade to Cubase Pro 9.5.

My problem is I don't use most of the features in Sonar I am a guitarist and I record to backing tracks
but I would like to try to write my own backings.

I think Elements may be a bit basic but i am downloading the demo as I type this but I still wonder if going
Cubase Pro 9.5 is a bit OTT for my needs.

Problem is the price difference between Pro 9.5 Crossgrade and Artist 9.5 in my case is £20.

So what would you do?

Hi,

If you go for Artist now, you still have an option to upgrade to Pro, if you need to. If not, then you saved £20. ;-)

Well for £20 get pro you probably won't need everything in there but for £20 at least you have all options open to you if and when you need them.
I don't even know why the £20 is a problem just get pro. Borrow £20 if you don't have it. Stay in one Saturday night, don't buy that new set of underwear, go on the game for half an hour, etc etc etc. ;)
If in doubt scream and shout.

Thanks for the replies

Getting Artist now is fine but to then upgrade to Pro would cost me another £200+ that's why I need to decide.

I think jimzepellin got it right and the £20 is not a problem It just didn't feel right having the top version of Cubase and
not making use of all it has to offer.

So off to look for the best cross grade price.

Thanks
