Nuendo 10 The Landmark Release - official preview

Post by TimoWildenhain » Mon Mar 11, 2019 8:33 pm

Dear forum-members,

I'm very happy to announce the first official preview of NUENDO 10!
This version will be a landmark release and represents the 10th release of Nuendo since it's introduction in 2000. With Nuendo 10, we'd like to say "thank you" to all long-time users and members of the Nuendo family who are with us since the early days, as well as to those who joined just recently. At GDC 2019, we are going to preview Nuendo 10 for the first time. Still in development, we expect this new version to be released in Q2/2019.

Nuendo 10 boasts more than 40 new features and improvements, ranging from major workflow enhancements such as Field Recorder Audio Import, Video Rendering and Video Cut Detection, to sound design tools, including VoiceDesigner and Doppler effects, to DearVR Spatial Connect integration, making it the most comprehensive VR authoring DAW in the market.

And it doesn’t stop there: Nuendo 10 comes with a redesigned user interface, Destroyer plug-in, further new and improved plug-ins, a reworked channel strip and more than 30 other features and improvements, among various tools for music composing.

Meet our product specialists for an exclusive preview at GDC 2019 in San Francisco, as usual with our friends from Audiokinetic at
booth #1041 in the South Hall of the Moscone Center on March 20–22.

Here's the official teaser-trailer for this release:
NUENDO 10 - THE LANDMARK RELEASE TEASER

More information will be available shorty.

Thanks,
Timo

Where can I read about this?

Does that mean, I can render short section "from within" the movie, e.g. 00:03:00.00 to 00:05:00.00?

Hello guys,

yes, that means you can render anything "within" the video, not only end-to-end.
It won't be however in the initial release, it is currently set to 10.2, simply as we
decided on short term to extend the testing period.

At the same time, it marks just the "beginning" of the video rendering topic for Nuendo.
This function will be developed further on, more formats, more rendering options etc.

Thanks,
Timo

Excellent! Looking forward to this!

Are you still planning on keeping the DNxHD codec as a separate installation? Any chance the main Nuendo installer can automatically update this and Nuendo can automatically detect if the current license/version is present, instead of us having to manually check for DNxHD updates, install them, etc.?

I'm a Cubase 10 user who is mainly interested in Steinberg's VR workflow and have been waiting for an opportunity to switch to Nuendo for a while. But I am a little confused about the current announcements to be honest. Along with the Nuendo 10 preview you also announced a Nuendo crossgrade sale. I am trying to figure out the best way to switch to Nuendo.

Will there be a free upgrade to 10 if I buy the full version now? What about the cross grade from Cubase? If I need to buy the upgrade when 10 comes out, how much will that be? Given that I lose the Cubase license as soon as I cross grade from Cubase to Nuendo I therefore also lose the much less expensive Cubase upgrade path. So these are important things I would need to know in order to make an informed decision.

Hi Michael,

if you take the chance to upgrade to Nuendo from Cubase in the framework of this sales offer, you're entitled
for a free update to Nuendo 10 later on in Q2, 2019.

Thanks,

Will this update result in a unified VCA algorithm (without bugs) across both platforms (Nuendo and Cubase) ?

Not sure what you mean by "unified" but the VCA logic implemented in Nuendo is the one
that is ported to Cubase.

It is my understanding that the VCA features in both programs currently function differently. I've not tried Cubase since VCA's were added so I don't know how they work, but if you say that the Nuendo implementation has been, or will be, ported to Cubase, I guess that they will then be identical.

Will this mean fcpxml as well, also can we get a new track type, to use only audio from a video and NOT do extracting... reading the audio part from that video file directly, like NLE programs do?

cheers Helge

I would expect so, since Cubase 10's release saw 'deep integration' with the unit. From the Cubase10 webpages:-

Softube Console 1 support
The Softube Console 1 hardware controller is deeply integrated into Cubase. You can select tracks and control various track parameters like volume, pan or sends through this elegant and intuitive controller.
System 1:- Win10 64bit, Gigabyte H81M m/board, Intel i7 4790 3.6Ghz, 16Gb RAM, NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti, 2 x 22" HD monitors; Steinberg UR44; Cubase Pro v10.0.30, WaveLab Pro v9.5.50, Studio One v4.5.2, Addictive Drums 2, Komplete 12, StylusRMX

System 2:- Win10 32bit, Q6600 2.4 Ghz, 4Gb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS, Delta 1010LT; Cubase Pro v8.0.40, WaveLab Pro v9.1.0, Komplete10, StylusRMX
