grandmc: Regarding importing audio, instead of File > Import > Audio File, try dragging and dropping the file into the Project Window. I had the same problem and the drag-n-drop method resolved it.

It's true. Cubase 10.5 on windows is the best cubase ever. And on the Mac worst cubase ever ...
More or less a marketing disaster. Steinberg has tried to convince people that Cubase/Nuendo works as fine on a osx as on windows.
3-4 (more?) years of hard work threw out of the window.

Learning Reaper over my break...we'll see if they fix Cubase in time for me to want to come back. Reaper is incredibly fast and snappy on Mac and uses literally about half the CPU (it seems like), so I hope Steinberg makes Cubase what it needs to be on OSX very soon. I'd rather stay on Cubase because I'm so fast on it (despite Reaper's many advantages in certain areas) and know it so well, but I'm done with the constant wrestling on Mac (even C10 is slow-moving/feeling compared to Reaper, though at least without the CPU issues of 10.5).

This is NOT a Cubase vs. Reaper post, believe me -- I just hope someone at Steinberg reads these things and sees that some people have had it and are actively making possible moves. If they don't care, that's their option, of course!

Crazy that no one at Steinberg has said anything about this since they released their hot fix which didn't even work.

Who can we email about getting a refund? I want my money back.

You probably can not get your money back. See https://shop.steinberg.net/c/shop?ml=EN ... icy.return.
It's embarrassing, the product should be redrawn until it decently works. I assume that it will get fixed, but I seriously doubt that Steinberg products has a future for Apple users.

I can't guess what percentage of Mac users are. If they have this plan, I will sell my cubase10.5
There are many Daws supporting Mac, and there should be one for me.
But want me to change from Mac to win, no way!

It's a big percentage. They'll loose A LOT if they eliminate Mac all together. I can tell you in the film composing community alone here in LA, a lot of us are on Mac with Cubase.

Experiencing similar problems with my Cubase too. I think the software is not optimized for my Mac Mojave. Do I have to update my system or buy a different Mac? Have anyone found the solution to this problem?

As long as CUBASE runs for more than 1 hour
Cubase 10.5 may show beach balls at any time. Even if you do nothing.
...Back to Cubase pro 10
Exactly!! 'Beach Balls' here immediately when opening Kontakt 5. (Haven't tried K6 yet). Kontakt will sound the patches already in there but editing is a no-no - immediate 'beach ball'. Only saving grace here is that Cubase 10.0,50 opens any of my (ugh) Cubase 10.5.1 files. Otherwise I'd really be screwed.

Just out of curiosity - is anybody running 10.5.1 on Catalina? I'm guessing that's probably the only Mac OS it works properly on.

I was running El Capitan on 12 core 2012 with 64 gig, all was fine but some important (for me) plugins were blacklisted. I installed High Sierra because I was told El Capitan was too old and generated a weird behaviour of Cubase. Then it was the best moments with Cubase 10, specially with ARA.
Cubase 10.5 = had to drop HS and adopte Mojave...finally...no, had better to drop it and install Catalina. But will it be possible on my poor old Mac..? And what about next macOS and next version of Cubase? May be next macOS will be Windows 10 for me.

Yep.

I'm in the adjoining room in the same building as a Cubase Artist here in L.A. and we were just talking about this at lunch today! He said he's a bit fed up with the company in this and some other ways, was asking me about other options (!). Wish I could write his name here but of course I wouldn't.

Personally I'm very deep into Reaper now, and though it's not perfect it's a very worthy alternative to Cubase, and you can count on immediate involvement and response from the company. I'm so disappointed right now I can't even tell you. :-( I wish I wasn't wasting time looking at Reaper and instead just stay with Cubase but it's too damn tiring with Steinberg these days and it's turned out to be a great alternative. I hope things turn around soon and I don't need to, but I'll be just fine if it doesn't.

Running latest cubase pro on latest Catalina update. All smooth. No crashes. Super fast. Although I am on the latest MacBook Pro 16.

I also had no issues on my 2016 MacBook Pro with Mojave though.

Also running latest Komplete ultimate too kontakt 6.

Hey, fellow composer based in LA.

Yip, two guys in our facility here have moved over to Reaper, but the majority of us are still on our trashcans running Cubase. Steinberg better get their act together, this is REALLY unacceptable.

You're lucky its working on your system.

Fully specced out 12 core MacPro here and I can't use it at all. Thank goodness it installed in parallel to v10 and didn't overwrite it!

Man that really sucks! I know how you feel as I've been there before, and honestly I'm literally stunned at how amazingly well it so far has all been performing. When cubase pro works it really is a massive pleasure to use like it is currently, but when it doesn't it's frustrating as anything. I hope things get sorted for you guys soon.

Yea its crazy. v10 works perfectly. It's never slow, never had a crash. What really gets me is that this is a .5 release of THE SAME VERSION and its acting like this. I'd understand if it more if it was v11 and they'd implemented a whole bunch of new code, but a 10.5 should run no problem on a system that runs 10.0 without any issues. It's truly bizarre in what Steinberg have actually done here.

Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to actually email technical support anymore. Can someone confirm this, or am I missing something? I've given up hope waiting for Steinberg to reply on this thread and thought I'd email, but can't find an actual email address anywhere.

I have emailed with my specific issues. It’s been Christmas and New Year so I am not expecting an immediate reply, but I expect something in the next week or so about this as my Mac is utterly useless! I really wanted to make 2020 a great music year and I can’t do a thing!

Im sure they are in to it. Hopefully they have found and fixed the issue before holidays and the test phase are ongoing. It seems like they have about at least 3 weeks test periods for normal releases. Hotfixes are shorter and we saw what happens...
I guestimate that we will get 10.5.10 on 2020-01-15

I don’t doubt they will fix it but it’s just ridiculous it has happened. I have been without Cubase for over a month now as I am sure others have aswell. It needs fixing ASAP.
