Is it possible to execute those (or any other external) programs from within the WaveLab scripting environment? And, of course, pass parameters and results back and forth.

I’m working on Mac and could install a JavaScript component that purports to give me access to Apple scripting facilities using JS syntax. But I don’t know if there is a door from WaveLab scripting to the OS X environment.
No door for Apple scripting. On Windows, there is ActiveX scripting support.
