My system: Windows 10 x64 (latest version), Intel i5 6400T, 8GIGS RAM.
I am both a user of Steinberg Cubase and Image-Line FL Studio 20 Producer and I am having major issues with HALion 6 in FL Studio 20.
I am using the latest version of HALion 6 (6.1.10) and FL Studio 20 (20.0.2.465) and every time I load HALion 6 into FL Studio and I touch a control in the HALion 6 interface, it causes FL Studio 20 to freeze. What I mean is that I can still move my mouse around the screen but I cannot interact with FL Studio 20 anymore. I can’t click on the buttons, it’s like they are locked. I can’t shut down FL Studio unless I use the Windows 10 task manager to shut it down.
I posted my issue on the Image-Line forums right after version FL Studio 20 came out and I got no answer. Now, FL Studio 20 is at version 20.0.2.465 and I am still having this issue. I cannot use HALion 6 in FL Studio 20.
It also Crashes immediately in Bitwig and crashes Mainstage on Mac OS X Sierra. As Bitwig has a seperate process for plug-ins, just the plug crashes, Bitwig survives…
Here is a crash report:
Date/Time: 2018-06-12 13:19:38.709840 +0200
OS Version: Mac OS X 10.12.6 (Build 16G1314)
Architecture: x86_64
Report Version: 19
Event: wakeups
Wakeups: 45042 wakeups over the last 61 seconds (742 wakeups per second average), exceeding limit of 150 wakeups per second over 300 seconds
Duration: 60.67s
Steps: 8
I finally could load the plug-in again, by deleting the track with Halion and creating a new track with an Halion instance. It worked for a while and then crashed again…
Stability of Halion 6 needs to be addressed quickly. I want to learn it, I think its brilliant, but in the end it will be useless if its not stable…
Halion 6.1.15 crash report doesn’t fit by 250 characters, probably to prevent reports posted here as the devs do not monitor the forum anyway…: - (
I have updated Image-Line FL Studio 20 to version 20.0.3.532 and I’m happy to report that the issue I was experiencing with HALion 6 seems to have been solved. I just hope that I’m not speaking too soon but we’ll see.
Well the issue is not as bad as before but it is still happening. Yesterday I was moving the cutoff knob in the HALion 6 GUI (in the instrument panel, not the dedicated cutoff knob at the bottom of the interface), I was moving it a lot trying to find the perfect spot while FL Studio 20 (version 20.0.3.532) was playing (looping over and over) in Playlist mode and again, FL Studio 20 froze and I could no longer interact with the program and had to shut it down user Windows Task Manager.
I also own UVI Falcon and I tried doing some heavy knob turning (cutoff and other modulations) in FL Studio 20 (while the sequencer was looping) and everything was fine. It did not freeze FL. So it seems that HALion 6 is not getting along well with FL Studio 20 BUT the situation has improved as version 20.0.3.532 seems a lot more stable with HALion 6 as previous FL 20 versions. It’s just that the issue still seems to be there but does not happen as frequently.
