4 x 2 USB 2.0 Audio Interface with 2 x Rupert Neve Designs Transformers & D-PRE

24-bit/192kHz USB 2.0

The high-class converters used in the UR-RT interfaces are top of the range and provide a maximum sampling rate of 192 kHz and 24-bit resolution.

Class-A D-PRE mic preamps

RND Transformer

The Rupert Neve Designs transformer featured in the UR-RT interfaces adds a natural distortion to the signal to realize a sound with more depth and perspective.

Thanks to the built-in SSP2 DSP and the included dspMixFx software the UR-RTs provide zero-latency monitoring with FX on Windows, macOS and iOS and with every DAW.

Cross-platform compatibility

The UR-RT audio interfaces provide cross-platform compatibility for Windows, macOS and iOS with the included Cubase AI and Cubasis LE music software.

Loopback function

The loopback function merges incoming signals with the playback signal and offers an easy way of streaming performances live to the Internet.

The Rupert Neve Designs transformer

Mr. Rupert Neve is undoubtedly a legend in the professional audio field. The transformer circuitry is one of the key factors in his numerous vintage designs and also in the latest devices from Rupert Neve Designs, which gives a very appealing touch of natural compression and saturation to the sound.

Input channels 1-2 on the Steinberg UR-RT2 each feature a transformer that Rupert Neve Designs has specifically developed for audio interfaces. With this transformer, a natural distortion can be added to the signal to realize a sound with more depth and perspective, while maintaining the natural sound of the D-PRE itself when the transformer is disabled.

The D-PRE: Beyond precision

The virtues of the Yamaha-designed D-PRE have been sung by industry veterans and trade press alike since the introduction of this class-leading preamp. A sumptuously detailed high-end, immaculate dynamic response and a rich, rounded low-end sound are the hallmarks of this very special preamp. The UR-RT2 and UR-RT4 feature two D-PRE preamps, each offering stellar recording quality unmatched in this price class. And to faithfully capture and replay the warm, transparent sound of the D-PRE, the UR-RTs feature AD and DA conversion stages with up to 24-bit, 192 kHz resolution.

UR-RT2 setup scenarios

Front panel connectivity

The two XLR/TRS combo inputs can be used in many different recording situations. For example, these could include recording two vocalists singing a duet; a singer playing acoustic guitar, with voice and guitar each recorded using a high-quality condenser mic; a choir or other classical performance recorded using two well-placed microphones; or any of the above accompanied by a backing track recorded using the two additional line inputs.

Monitor speakers are connected to the two output jacks on the rear, enabling the UR-RT2 to offer a compact, high-quality MIDI-based production solution.

Connecting an iPad is accomplished using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit, Lightning to USB Camera Adapter or Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter. Now you’re ready to record, edit and mix music on your iPad, for example, using Steinberg’s widely praised Cubasis app. Hook up a keyboard, drum pad or controller on the MIDI ports, with monitor speakers plugged into the dedicated Line output pair, and you’re good to go.

Full DAW integration with dspMixFx

The UR-RT series integrates seamlessly with Cubase and almost any other DAW, delivering latency-free monitoring with DSP-powered FX, via the onboard SSP2 DSP chip and latest dspMixFx technology. This provides a fully integrated, DSP-based monitoring setup wherever you are and with whichever DAW you use.
