Beautiful sounds crafted for big scores

The beautifully sampled Hammered Dulcimer from Cinematique Instruments brings its dark and exotic sound directly to HALion. It was recorded with different mallets and sticks in two mic positions to create gleamy and fascinating atmospheres.

The concept of Hammered Dulcimer

To make the Hammered Dulcimer even more special, the instrument was recorded in three different articulations. In the first articulation the strings were hit with the typical small wooden mallet. The strings were also struck with a drum stick for the Sticks preset which creates a much sharper and more open sound. Finally, an articulation was recorded where the strings were struck with a woolen timpani mallet and damped the strings with the palm of the hand. All these articulations were recorded in four round robin variations and up to four velocity layers.
